The Washington Nationals headed into the playoffs as the odd-on favorite having had a record season and the most wins in baseball this year. They faced the underdog St. Louis Cardinals who advanced by winning their wildcard match up in the first round.
The Nationals looked poised to win in impressive fashion when they went up 6-0 in the 3rd with the Cards making a ton of mistakes. The Cardinals were able to make a comeback in the game and entered into the 9th down 7-5 with only 3 outs to make a run. That’s when things got interesting.
The Cardinals won the game 9-7 and will head to their 7th National League Championship Series (NLCS) since 2000 where they will face the San Francisco Giants.
