This week’s Saturday night fights featured high profile names taking on lesser opponents. Since his release from the WWE over 2 years ago, Dave Bautista has been hinting at a second career as a MMA fighter. Finally we got to see him in the cage in his debut fight against Vince Lucero at CES 12 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Former backyard brawler and MMA fighter Kimbo Slice (6-0, 5 KO’s) earned another win over a mystery opponent who’s nickname should be “The Tomato Can”. If you wondered before if some of the fighter’s that Kimbo faced took a dive, you don’t have to with this guy. Up next for Kimbo will be a big payday against legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr. in December in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
K-1 kickboxing standout Melvin Manhoef showed his brutal striking capabilities by almost taking the head off of Ryo Kawamura at ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings in Kallang, Singapore.
