The Holiday Inn pool in Shanghai has a real unique selling point in that it’s bottom is made of glass with a view 24 floors above the ground. The deep end of the pool extends out from the building with its bottom made of toughened glass that gives swimmers the feeling of swimming in the sky.
A spokesperson for the hotel said:
“We wanted to provide our guests a unique swimming experience, and let them feel they’re vacationing even in a bustling city.”
The pool is 30 meters (98 feet) long and 6 meters (20 feet) wide with a depth of 1.5 meters (5 feet). It was designed by Singaporean firm Chan Sau Yan Associates, which also designed the interior of the four-star hotel.
According to the staff, the swimming pool is open to hotel guests and a limited number of health club members. Annual membership for the gym starts at a very hefty price of about $2,400 per person.
