NBA commentator and former player Jalen Rose talked about his dirty little secret for how he used to injure opposing players.
Most basketball players know that it’s dirty, really dirty, to try to put your foot under someone while they are in the middle of a jump shot. It’s just not right.
During his podcast on the Grantland Network, Rose admitted that he did just that throughout his career. Most notable, and what looks like his proudest moment, was when he intentionally tried to take out Kobe Bryant during the 2000 NBA Finals. An injury that forced Kobe to miss part of Game 2 and the whole Game 3.
“NBA Finals 2000. Kobe Bean Bryant goes up for a jump shot on the right wing. I contested the jump shot. Kobe lands on my foot. He hobbled off and he actually misses the next game. He should have just missed the whole series. I would have a championship ring and it would be “no hard, no foul”. I think I did it on purpose. I can’t say that it was an accident.“
That’s just cold.
